Towson, Md. – The Juniata field hockey team picked up a big 2-1 win on the road at Goucher College on Saturday afternoon, their second straight Landmark Conference win.
Caitlin Steffie and Kaylyn Nierzwicki each had a goal, while Tess Ledeboer and Kaylyn Walters had an assist apiece. Amanda Puza made four saves in goal.
The teams were scoreless at the halftime break, with Goucher holding a 6-4 advantage in shots.
In the third quarter, a Juniata penalty corner resulted in Ledeboer taking a pass from Colleen Creneti and pushing it toward the back post to Steffie, who smacked it into the cage.
Five minutes later, the Gophers evened the score at 1-1.
Four minutes into the fourth quarter, Nierzwicki smashed home a pass from Walters off another penalty corner to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish.
The Eagles held a 12-11 advantage in shots and 15-9 one in penalty corners.
Juniata returns to action at Hood College on Wednesday at 4:00.
