Eagles Fall 2-1 in OT to #8 Kean in the First Round of NCAA Tournament
UNION, N.J.- The Juniata field hockey team fell 2-1 in overtime at #8 Kean University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, on a cold Wednesday evening at Kean Alumni Stadium.

UNION, N.J.- The Juniata field hockey team fell 2-1 in overtime at #8 Kean University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, on a cold Wednesday evening at Kean Alumni Stadium.
Katie Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) scored the Eagles lone goal of the game midway through the second half. Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa. / Danville) recorded a season-high 12 saves in the cage for the Eagles.
In the first half, Kean controlled the game and held a 7-2 edge in shots. Edwards and the Eagle defense put up a strong front to keep the Cougars out as the teams remained scoreless at halftime. Midway through the second half, in the 54th minute, K. Alexander scored off of a scrum in front of the cage just after an Eagle penalty corner. With five minutes left in regulation, the Cougars scored off of a defender deflection to force overtime.
One minute into overtime, Kean stole the ball from a defender, went the opposite way and scored the winning goal for the Cougars.
Kean held a 21-5 edge in shots and a 16-5 edge in penalty corners.
Juniata finishes the year 13-7, their most wins since the 2010 season.
