HUNTINGDON, Pa.- After the grind of preseason in the heat and humidity, the Juniata football team is ready to begin their season. The Eagles travel to Western Pennsylvania as they take on Grove City on Saturday afternoon. Game time from Robert E Thorn Field is 1:30 p.m.
The Eagles are coming off a 3-7 campaign in 2015. It was a season of close opportunities as Juniata had three losses by a touchdown or less with one coming in the final seconds and another in overtime. "They are great learning experiences," noted head coach Tim Launtz, who enters his sixth season. "When you are that close, you know with improvement, dedication, and commitment that that can make a difference. We will build off of that not only as players but as coaches and as a total team."
The Wolverines were 0-10 last season. Saturday's game is the first for new head coach Andrew DiDonato who took over for long time head coach Chris Smith.
The Eagles and Wolverines will be playing each other for the 16th time in a series that goes back to 1927. The Eagles lead the series 12-2-1. Juniata won in Huntington last season 26-13. In its last visit to Grove city, JC won by the score of 20-13.
