MADISON, N.J.- The Juniata baseball team lost the opening game of their series at Drew University, 3-2, on Friday afternoon at Lonnstrom Stadium.
Hunter Thomas went 5.2 innings for the Eagles while allowing three runs on two hits (one earned) with five strikeouts. Jackson Cunnane, Jace Irvin, and David Beard each went 2-4. Beard added an RBI, while Irvin had a triple.
The Rangers scored twice in the second inning, scoring two runs on no hits as they capitalized on two Eagle errors.
In the top of the third, Connor Blough drove in Irvin as he grounded out to short.
In the fifth, Beard drove in Irvin with a single to right.
The rest of the way, the Eagles couldn't manufacture the game-tying run.
Juniata will return to action against Drew, with the first pitch at noon.
