Selinsgrove, Pa. – The Juniata baseball team dropped a 12-6 decision to Susquehanna on Tuesday afternoon at Bollinger Field.
Susquehanna jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning before Juniata responded in the fourth. The Eagles plated four runs in the frame, highlighted by RBI hits from David Beard and Matthew Koehler, along with an RBI hit-by-pitch from Ethan Pfeffer, to take a 4-3 advantage.
The River Hawks answered immediately with a six-run fourth inning to regain control of the game, capitalizing on multiple Juniata errors. Susquehanna added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings to extend the lead.
Juniata chipped away offensively behind Beard, who finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Jackson Cunnane, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Koehler drove in two runs, while Pfeffer added an RBI.
On the mound, Aidan Chermol got the start, allowing three runs (two earned) in 0.2 innings. Tim Coleman provided 2.1 scoreless innings in relief. Landen Eichhorn was charged with the loss after allowing five runs (none earned) in the fourth inning.
Juniata added a run in the sixth on an RBI single from Cunnane and scored once more in the ninth, but could not overcome the deficit.
The Eagles will host Wilkes for a three-game set this weekend.
