Juniata Rallies for Game One Win, Falls in Nightcap to Scranton
Huntingdon, Pa. – Juniata scored four runs in the sixth inning to defeat Scranton, 7-6 in game on of today's doubleheader.
Juniata trailed 6-3 before the sixth inning rally. Charlie Bakken reached on an error to bring in a run, Ethan Pfeffer followed with a sacrifice fly, Ricky Scott tied the game with an RBI single, and Connor Blough delivered the go-ahead RBI single.
Jace Irvin went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, a walk, and two stolen bases. David Beard finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Ricky Scott went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Connor Blough and Zach Johnston each recorded a hit and an RBI, while Pfeffer added an RBI. Jacob Despot scored twice and drew two walks.
Juniata stole six bases in the game, with Johnston and Irvin each stealing two, and Despot and Scott adding one.
On the mound, Landen Eichhorn earned the win, tossing 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk with two strikeouts. Braelan Huber started and allowed six runs over 3.2 innings.
In game two, Scranton built a 6-1 lead through four innings before Juniata added runs in the third, fourth, and eighth innings.
Landon Blank led the offense, going 2-for-5 with an RBI. Zach Johnston finished 2-for-5 with a run scored and two stolen bases.
Ayden Thelen recorded a double and an RBI, while David Beard drove in a run. Ethan Pfeffer added a hit and scored a run.
Connor Blough, Matthew Koehler, and Ricky Scott each contributed a hit, with Scott also scoring a run.
Juniata totaled eight hits and drew six walks while stealing five bases in the game.
On the mound, Hunter Thomas took the loss, allowing six runs over five innings with two strikeouts. Ben Ryan pitched four innings, allowing one run on four hits.
