HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata baseball team dropped a pair of games in their final doubleheader to Elizabethtown, 8-2 and 8-4, Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles took the lead early, going up 2-1 in the second inning after a big Josh Keszcyk (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) double to center sent in Matt Innella (Commack, NY/Comack) and Austin Suders (Marion, Pa./Chambersburg Area). The Blue Jays scored four runs in the third to reverse the roles, taking a 5-2 lead.
JC was unable to generate any more runs and fell, 8-2.
In game two, Elizabethtown held an early 7-0 advantage through the fourth inning. Hunter Price (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) started off the fifth with a double to left field and advanced third after Joshua Gery's (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown Senior High School) singled to right. Price scored off Ryan McClain's (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) fly to left, putting JC's first run on the board.
Juniata would not score again until the eighth, scoring two after Gery started off the inning with a dinger over the left field fence. McClain doubled to center and crossed the plate off Dillon Hippensteel's (Dillsburg, Pa./York Catholic) single to left, narrowing the Blue Jay's lead to 8-3.
Isaac Maclay (Belleville, Pa./Mifflin County High School) homered to left for one more run in the ninth, but the team was unable to make the comeback, falling 8-4.
