McDonald and Shaffer clinch Landmark Player of the Week honors
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata’s women’s basketball player Kate McDonald (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) and Juniata’s indoor track and field athlete Angela Shaffer (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) each earned a Landmark Player of the Week nod for their standout performances last week in their respective sports.
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata’s women’s basketball player Kate McDonald (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) and Juniata’s indoor track and field athlete Angela Shaffer (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) each earned a Landmark Player of the Week nod for their standout performances last week in their respective sports.
Shaffer won Landmark’s Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for her first place finish in the high jump and the 60-meter hurdles in the Susquehanna Crusader Classic. Shaffer leapt to a personal-best in the high jump competition with a 1.62-meter jump, falling just shy of the Landmark and Juniata record. She followed up her high jump with another victory in the 60-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 9.64.
McDonald produced two double double performances, her 10th and 11th this season, as she led the Eagles to a pair of victories over Moravian College and the University of Scranton. In the 66-45 victory over the Royals, McDonald posted a game-high 16 points with 13 rebounds, and charted 13 points and 14 boards in Juniata’s 63-60 win against the Greyhounds. McDonald also contributed 10 assists, seven steals, and four blocks over both contests.
Women’s hoops returns home to Kennedy S+RC for a Friday, Feb. 10, 5:30 p.m. game against Catholic and a Saturday, Feb. 11, 2:00 p.m. contest against Goucher. Juniata track and field will resume competition on February 11, at the Bucknell Winter Classic in Lewisburg, Pa.
