Eagles Open Home Schedule Against Goucher

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College tennis will face Goucher in their 2013 spring home opener at 2:30 on Thursday, March 28th. The contest will mark head coach Jason Cohen's first home match in his first full season since taking the helm.

Under Cohen, both the men and women have started off strong in 2013. The women, who were picked to finish last in the conference by the Landmark, are 7-1 and tied for first in the league at 1-0. They have already surpassed their win total from last season. Currently having great performances are sophomore Cara Stough (Friendsville, Md. / Northern Garrett), who is undefeated in singles, and junior Megan Phillips (Jefferson Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson), who has shown great leadership as the lone upperclassman on the team.

Meanwhile, the men have compiled a 4-3 record and shown early toughness.  They have been led early on by senior Brice Morey (Enola, Pa. / East Pennsboro), and freshman Mike Lifshitz, (Worcester, Mass. / Worcester Academy) who both earned important victories against Drew in the men's last contest.

Both the men and the women will look to earn big wins against Goucher. The men hope to extend their streak against the Gophers and earn their first league win of the year. While the women look to earn a victory against a team that is also 7-1 overall and 1-0 in Landmark play.
