SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The men's indoor track and field team opened up their season at the Susquehanna River Hawks opener, Friday afternoon.
Daniel Fernandez (Oxford, Pa./ New Oxford) finished tenth in the weight throw while Thayer Phillips finished 12th. In the long-jump, John Randolph (Jonestown, Pa./ Northern Lebanon) finished fifth marking 6.05m. In the high jump, Storm Fridinger (Shippenburg, Pa./ Shippensburg) and Brenden Gardner finished fifth and sixth respectively. In the shot put, Fernandez led the Eagles finishing sixth while Zach Krug finished just behind him. Phillips finished 14th in the shot put.
On the running side of things, Gardner finished fourth for the Eagles. In the 400 meter dash, Fridinger took top honors coming in with a time of 53.16. In the 200 meter dash, Ian Harpel finished 13th coming in with a time of 24.45. Kevin Schofield (Madison, Conn. / Daniel Hand) finished fifth in the 3,000 meter run.
There were also a few records and PR's set during the meet. Fridinger ran a 53.16 in the 400 meter dash to improve on his number five ranking all-time at Juniata. Evan Ulrich (Homer, N.Y. / Homer) moved to number five all-time in the 3,000 meter run for Juniata and that also added a personal best for him. Fernandez had an indoor best in the men's shot put. Schofield set an overall PR of 9:14.79 in the 3,000 meter run.
The Eagles do not return to action until January 19th where they will compete in the Orange & Maron Classic at Susquehanna.
