2010-11 Points of Pride

A total of three teams won Landmark Conference Championships during the 2010-11 season. Women's basketball won the Landmark Conference Championship for the first time in program history and had the opportunity to host 1st and 2nd round games in their third NCAA Championship appearance. Field hockey captured its fourth straight Landmark Conference crown, and advanced to the NCAA Championship for the fourth time in the last five seasons. For women's volleyball, the 2010 Landmark title was its 30th consecutive conference championship, sending the Eagles to a record-setting 30th NCAA Championship appearance.

Five Juniata student-athletes - Mark Berguson for football, David Grim for men's soccer, Streph Strauss for women's volleyball, Caley McCool for softball, and field hockey's Caitlin Bowman for women's at-large - earned slots on the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District teams in 2010-11. Berguson and Strauss were First team Academic All-District honorees. 

12 Juniata student-athletes earned a nod on Landmark Conference All-Academic Teams in 2010-11. Fall All-Academic Team members were: Caitlyn Bowman (field hockey), Kenny Goodfellow (cross country), Jeffrey Gring (men's soccer), and Nikki Hankinson (women's soccer). Winter All-Academic Team honorees were Nick Bauer (men's indoor track & field), Dan Sekulski (men's basketball), Natalie Glinsky (women's basketball), and Angela Shaffer (women's indoor track & field). Spring All-Academic Team selections were Russ Gray (baseball), Ceth Parker (men's outdoor track & field), Amanda Gerlach (softball), and Laura Gregory (women's tennis). In addition, Mike Kraft was named to the EIVA all-academic team.

Head coaches Caroline Gillich (field hockey), Larry Bock (women's volleyball), Danny Young-Ulrich (women's basketball), and Jon Cutright (women's indoor track & field) were honored as Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year in 2010-11. Men's volleyball head coach Kevin Moore was recognized with the EIVA's Bob Sweeney Coach of the Year Award.

Juniata football senior Mark Berguson was named to the Centennial Conference's All-Centennial Sportsmanship Football Team.

Steph Strauss was the sixth Juniata student-athlete to be named the Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete, the Landmark's highest academic honor. She was also awarded a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for graduate study during the 2011-12 academic year. Strauss is the eighth Juniata student-athlete to earn one of the coveted NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships. The senior was also awarded a "Coaches 4 Coaches" Scholarship by the American Volleyball Association, and awarded the opportunity to attend the 2010 AVCA Annual Convention.

Women's basketball senior Jen Hnatuck was a Second team selection to the ECAC Division III South All-Star squad and earned a spot on the D3hoops.com All-Mid Atlantic Region Third team.
